What is Searxng?
Searxng is what powers my private search engine. A private search engine is a search engine (like Google or DuckDuckGo) that doesn't have any ads, trackers, or sponsored results. Searxng is neat because it actually uses other search engines like google, bing, duckduckgo, etc, and combines the results to give you a single result feed. Searxng acts as a middle man. As far as Google or Bing is concerned, searxng is the user that it's trying to track. This separates you, the user, from Google or Bings ability to track.
Why should I care?
Because Daddy Bezos and all his greedy little buddies need to be reminded that the internet isn't just a playground for billionaires to prey on the masses. The internet is a tool shaped by the people and made for the people. I believe it is my mission as an educated IT professional to provide services that increase a users privacy where I can. Damn the man! Thats why.
Can I use this instead of google in my browser's address bar?
Yes! It's actually pretty simple to do. Instructions for a few popular browsers are below.
Firefox

Visit https://search.weebsweb.com
Right click on the address bar
Click Add "SearXNG"
Open Firefox settings and go to the Search tab
Change the default search engine to SearXNG
You should now be able search in your address bar using the private search engine!
